My name is Tina Higgins, and I am an aspiring journalist who is currently enrolled in the multi media program at Middle Tennessee State University.  I have done some freelance writing for my hometown's local newspaper, The Crossville Chronicle.  Along with my developing my journalism career, I am also interested in expanding my knowledge of cross cultures.   Even though I am currently in high education, I believe that I will always see myself as a student.  I plan to focus my passion of learning towards my aspired career which is travel journalism.

          Since I was little, I always knew that I had a passion for writing and for informing. Before I could even write, I recall drawing squiggles that slightly resembled a story, and I was hooked from then on. I always loved writing in school. On top of that, I was always the kid stuck in the library trying to look up new things and new discoveries. This childhood passion still is in me today, and it drives me to be as successful as possible within the journalism career.

          My first two years of higher education took place at a community college in Cumberland county, Roane State Community College.  After earning my Associates Degree in Mass Communications, I decided to expand my education in 2017, and I transferred to MTSU.  After my first semester, I decided to part take in the Disney College Program where I had a role within Guest Relations.

          I am also an honors student for this university, and I have chose the creative route for my undergraduate thesis.  I have created a podcast called Over the Rainbow in which queer individuals come onto my show and discuss news or ideas within the LGBT+ community.  

          With my degree and building internship experiences, I plan to use my education to hopefully be a travel journalist.  I am aware that this is a big dream, but I also know that these jobs exist. I would even be happy as a advertising representative for a travel company.  I would love to do a travel podcast or even a video series for a news station, and that is my dream and career ideals.  I do not have a plan B due to how the construction of such plans allude to the individuals first and more enjoyable plan failing. Within the next 10 years, I plan on taking every opportunity I can to better my career and future professional goals while building on my personal life as well.
